Alternative Weight Loss Methods

August 23, 2007

Fad Diets and Exercise Aren't the Only Way to Lose Weight

Taking off the weight and keeping it off can be a difficult endeavor for most people. Traditional weight loss methods simply require the use of food restricting diets and exercise. While these approaches do work for some people, a great number of others fail in their attempts. Why? For one, sweating like a dog and starving yourself to death may indeed lead to a significant drop in weight but the drop may simply be temporary. Many people go on eating binges immediately after the willpower to continue the starvation process ceases. Furthermore, intense exercise regimes may increase your metabolism for the time being but most people who relapse in the form of binge eating get so depressed that they forget about their exercise sessions shortly thereafter.

Switching to Organic Foods as an Alternative Weight Loss Method

Do not eat less! Eat Differently!

One proven way of losing weight and keeping it off, which has worked for many people, is a change in eating habits. Yes, ironically, stuffing yourself to death with healthier types of food may greatly eliminate the waist line; so even though you actually eat more, you take off more weight. Forget about so called "dietary foods" (light soft drinks, sugar alternatives, etc), simply stuff yourself with as much natural organic foods, fruits, vegetables, grains, soy, tofu, etc., as you possibly can. That way when the time comes for someone to offer you a hot slice of saturated fat filled pepperoni and salami pizza, you'll be way too full to even take a bite! Yes, organic foods do have calories as well, but the amount is way less than with traditional or fast foods and there are very few of them that are filled with saturated fat.

Switching to Organic Gradually not Cold Turkey

Eating healthier foods may not sound very appealing to the most of us. Especially if we were raised on burgers, French fries, hotdogs, and pizzas. Don't worry, though, the switch to organic can and should be gradual. Start out by eating just a small bit of healthy foods prior to stuffing yourself with that macaroni and cheese and double bacon burger you so desire, and pretty soon you'll start seeing that you'll be less hungry when you get to that fattening main course. Best of all, a gradual approach to healthy eating will also aid your taste buds in getting used to the new type of food and in a short time span, you will have acquired a taste for organic foods. After a while, organic food will actually taste great- difficult to believe but true. If you don't believe me, ask beer drinkers. Most people almost puke the first time they taste beer but after they've acquired a taste for it they thoroughly enjoy it. The same thing happens with organic food. But please, do not go out and have a beer after having read this article. Calories from alcohol are difficult to burn off and are stored as fat.

Healthy eating is a wonderful approach to weight loss. An organic diet will not only help you shed unnecessary pounds but it will also provide your body with great nourishment and the necessary vitamins and minerals to help you become and remain healthy in every aspect of life.
