Phentermine: Still the Best

December 28, 2006

Ever since its FDA approval in 1959, phentermine has helped millions of overweight and obese adults loose weight permanently. Its effectiveness has been proven over the decades and it is still one of the most popular and highly prescribed weight loss medications in the market. If Phentermine had not had such positive results, its popularity would have died out years ago. However, this is not the case. Medical practitioners still highly prescribe Phentermine and are firm believers in its results.

What is Phentermine? Phentermine is medication that targets the nervous system. The drug's main function is to mimic symptoms that trick the brain into thinking the stomach is full and therefore needs no more food. When people suffer from obesity and from a constant need for additional food to satisfy a psychosomatic hunger, Phentermine works wonders. Weight loss is easier and requires less physical effort than with other weight loss methods. It also reduces the risk of injury commonly associated with weight reduction methods that require excessive exercise routines.

Interested? The determining factor on whether or not Phentermine can be used by you is based on your body mass index. To be considered a good candidate, your body mass index should be above 30, however, there are some special cases where it can be as low as 27 and still be prescribed. These special cases include adult type-2 diabetes patients and patients with some cardio-vascular diseases caused by high cholesterol; do to the health risk people face if they enter obesity with these diseases. You can not obtain Phentermine without a doctor's approval. It's a prescription only medication and it is absolutely necessary to consult your doctor before starting with Phentermine. An important thing to keep in mind is that Phentermine was designed for adults only and it should never be administered to a child. It is also important to note that tests are still being performed to determine the risks that Phentermine can have during pregnancy and women who are currently pregnant, wishing to get pregnant or who are breastfeeding are advised against Phentermine consumption.

Like any other medication on the market, side effects may or may not appear depending on individual reactions to the drug. Common side effects include nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, and increased heart rate although these side effects are usually mild and temporary. If strong side effects present themselves and persist, please discontinue Phentermine use immediately and consult your doctor.

When deciding individual dosage a doctor should always be the one to give the last word. Dosages may vary anywhere from 15mg to 37.5mg. The normal recommended dosage is usually 37.5mg and it is advised that pills be taken every morning one hour before eating anything (pills may prove ineffective if consumed after a meal). Please keep in mind that overdosing is dangerous so if you forget to take your dosage one day just continue normally trying always to remember daily consumption. If you skip a day it won't kill you so don't ever overdose.
